The Canadian education system is ranked among the best in the world. As of 2019, Canada’s international student population has tripled over the past decade. Canada has now moved into the third place globally in foreign student attraction, just behind the United States of America and Australia. According to the International Education Strategy published by the Government of Canada, Canada attracts a significant number of international students at all levels of the Canadian education system, primary, secondary, and post-secondary (universities, colleges, and institutes), with the greatest number being at the post-secondary level. The IRCC reports that as of December 2019, there were a total of 642,480 international students in Canada, representing a 13% increase from the previous year.

  2. Canada’s reputation of having a tolerant and non-discriminatory environment.
  3. Canada’s reputation as a safe country.

Canada does not have a federal department or national system of education. Instead, education the corresponding curriculum in Canada is under the purview of each province and territory. There are 3 types of schooling in Canada: primary (elementary), secondary, and post-secondary.
